Tai Chi and Qigong are slow and meditative Chinese exercises that are now practiced worldwide for the tremendous benefits they have on both physical and mental health. Tai Chi has been shown to benefit mental health by relieving symptoms of depression, reducing anxiety, and lessening stress. It's physical benefits include toning the muscles and tendons, increasing bone density, and improving lung capacity. Both Tai Chi and Qigong focus on proper alignment of the body and pair gentle, flowing movements with the breath in order to increase and cultivate the body’s natural energy levels, reduce pain, and improve overall quality of life.

As the benefits of Tai Chi become more widely recognized, it is increasingly recommended as an adjunct therapy and part of a comprehensive health plan to help people suffering from arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, chronic illnesses, and functional or physical limitations. Although Tai Chi is most beneficial if used preventatively or before the development of any major health problem, it is an extremely valuable aid for people recovering from surgeries or as part of a rehabilitation program. Tai Chi can be modified to the individual’s needs, thus making it suitable for all ages, skill levels, and physical abilities.

At Kong Han we strive to make Tai Chi both easy and fun to learn. We utilize a traditional training program which is designed to give each student a solid foundation that will help them progress easily by building onto previous knowledge. In a few months, students will develop the basic foundation that will carry them throughout the duration of their practice. This approach lets practitioners maximize the benefits in the shortest time possible, thus making it more accessible to everyone regardless of family commitments and busy schedules. Our classes focus on the tremendous health benefits that Tai Chi has to offer without neglecting the original self-defense applications of the art.
